Have you heard about the new rave for handmade Kandi? Sorry it’s not chocolate
but it sure is yummy, especially to the teens.
Well then, if you haven’t let me, an obsessed beader, who thought she was keeping up with all the latest trends when it came to jewelry, tell you about this new rave for “Kandi”.
A few months ago, my daughter asked if she could use some of my seed beads. She wanted to learn how to make, what she called ”Kandi“. I was a little confused, of course. My thoughts were, who in the world eats seed beads in their candy? But then, she explained; she wanted to make bracelets and to my surprise, it turned out to be peyote stitch. Even though, that’s not what she called it. Apparently, there’s also a whole new language for some of the stitches we old beading folks call peyote, right angle weave and picot stitch.
So…for peyote stitch, she called it “P Stitch”, seemed logical to me.
Need-less-to-say, I was the proud mother, after years of sitting in my bead room and beading for hours. Never having my youngest daughter show any interest in what I did, my dream came true and I didn’t even have to ask for it! She walked inside the bead room and started digging through all my bead stuff. Asking about this and about that, it was a true delight for me!
Now, let this proud Mother tell you more about her talented daughter “Denea DiceHer” and her “Kandi Wonders”. If your wondering about her name ”Denea DiceHer”, well that’s her Jr. Roller Derby League name. She loves Roller Derby and once she turns 17 she gets to play with the BIG girls. So, I’ve still have a little time before I start seeing a lot more bruises.
Denea DiceHer has always been talented. She can draw the most amazing Cartoon Characters. Check these out below:
Aren’t they too Cool. She dreams these Cartoon characters up in her head, then puts pen to paper.
Okay, the to show you her jewelry creations. Drum roll please….here are Denea DiceHer’s “Kandi Wonders”.
At this time, Denea DiceHer only sells her creations to her school mates. She does pretty good too! Perhaps during the Summer months she’ll have more and open her own Etsy shop.
But for now, I’ve talk her into sponsoring a Give-a-Way for me and it’s a “Hello Kitty” bracelet! So if you’d like to win or know of someone else that would like to win this fantastic “Hello Kitty” bracelet.
